Methodology
Purpose. We maintain consolidated trackers so Texas voters can quickly see who’s running, their status, and official links. This is an informational service—not endorsements.
Scope
- Covered offices: Texas House (150 districts), Texas Senate (31 districts), U.S. House seats in Texas, and selected statewide/judicial offices when applicable.
- What we list: Candidate name, status (incumbent/challenger/open/special), party, campaign website, official social accounts (X and Facebook), and clarifying notes when helpful.
Sources
- Official party and state resources (RPT/TDP postings, county party pages when relevant).
- Government records (Texas Secretary of State; Texas Ethics Commission; Federal Election Commission).
- Candidate-controlled channels (official campaign sites, X, Facebook).
- Credible news reporting for confirmations (filings, withdrawals, special elections).
Inclusion Criteria
- Filed or publicly declared candidates with credible evidence (official filing, official site/page, or verified announcement).
- Texas Candidate Trackers is based on the best publicly available information at the time a candidate is added.
- If you see missing or outdated campaign links or bios, candidates and users are welcome to use the “Submit a Change” form to send updates.
- Withdrawals or ineligibility are annotated or removed when credibly documented.
Verification & Update Cycle
- New/edited entries are checked against at least two sources when possible.
- Links are opened in a fresh session to avoid cached redirects and parked domains.
- Each tracker carries a timestamp: “As of: November 12, 2025.”
- Community reports via our form are reviewed and, if validated, corrected promptly.
Data Handling Rules
- Links: Display labels (e.g., “Smith”, “@Handle”, “Facebook”) hyperlink to full URLs. Unknown fields are left blank (not “N/A”).
- Names: Use the name on filings or the candidate’s official site; preserve diacritics.
- Status: Incumbent / Challenger / Open seat / Special election applied consistently across trackers.
- Parties: Use campaign or filing party; nonpartisan races labeled accordingly.
Known Limitations
- Filings and withdrawals can change faster than public sites update.
- Some campaigns lack official sites or verified socials; we leave those fields blank until confirmed.
- Redistricting or special elections can temporarily create discrepancies across sources.
How to Request a Correction
